THE SOBER MONEY CLUB

A community of people saved my life. Now I’m starting my own.

Introducing… The Sober Money Club - a weekly accountability group filled with people just like you.
I believe a community of people that share common struggles is what’s missing in the financial world.

The Sober Money Club is that space.

Here’s how it works:

  • We meet Thursdays at 8pm ET (7pm CT / 6pm MT / 5pm PT) on Zoom for an hour

  • It runs like a support group meeting. A few minutes to gather, a short reading with a topic and then we all share.

  • There’s no selling each other anything, there’s no talking over each other and we’re not trying to solve anyone else’s problems.

  • It’s just a space to get what’s going on inside your head out and perhaps hear that other people’s heads are telling them the same thing.

  • The call will not be recorded.

  • You don’t have to talk

  • You don’t have to show your face

  • You don’t have to have anything figured out

Who this is for:

  • If you make good money but have no idea where it all goes

  • If you avoid your bank account because looking at it makes you feel sick

  • If you have no idea how money works

  • If you’ve never shared out loud how stressful money is

  • If you’ve tried all the budgeting apps and they worked for about a week

  • If you spend to numb, reward, punish or cope

Why community matters to me:

The first time I admitted I had a problem with drinking was in 2016. I still have the journal I wrote it in. Nearly every morning, I’d write “I need to cut back on my drinking.” That awareness didn’t do much. Sure, I talked about wanting to stop. I saw three different therapists but would spend my whole time with them planning for my next drink. I went 45 days without alcohol once and thought I was king of the world.

It was 8 years of trying to “cut back” before I finally stepped into a room with other people that had a similar problem. There was a sign behind the speaker that said “You are not alone”. Little did I know how much I needed to hear that.

Money seems to be one of the last remaining topics that is too taboo to talk about out loud. And where has that gotten us? Savings rates are near all time lows, money stress is one of the top causes of relationship failures and everyone is searching social media for the next hot tip that might finally cure all their money problems with nothing to show for it.

Other perks include:

  • An early look at my book 12 Steps to Financial Sobriety before it comes out

  • Workbook material

  • Special guest posts

I spent a long time believe I could fix things on my own. What finally worked was getting honest in a room of people who understood.

The room is open. Come grab a seat!
